Maybe I take this job too seriously
Mar. 7th, 2006 12:24 pmA clueless sybase DBA/developer phoned me up and started asking me basic questions. Very very basic questions.
It wasn't the fact that he's Chinese and spoke very bad English that annoyed me.
It wasn't the fact that the person who asked him to find out this information already had the answers that annoyed me.
It wasn't even the fact that he'd never even attempted to look at machines with the software installed so he could find out that annoyed me.
No.
It was the fact that he didn't have the most basic grasp of any of the technology we're using and didn't even know the paths that the software is installed under and kept asking me the same questions time and time again because he didn't understand the answer.
After 20 minutes of this go-round I was so angry that I hung up on him, threw my headset at the wall (breaking the headset... fortunately it clipped back together) and had to take a walk in order to calm myself down.
All for five fucking lines of code!
