So I currently rent a co-lo machine from SoYouStart. It's an OK machine (32Gb RAM, 2*2Gb disks, E3-1245 @3.4Ghz). Costs just under $600/year.

But I'm not really _using_ it. I already have a linode and a Panix v-colo. On this machine I host a small VM for a friend; it's secondary DNS for tinho; it's tertiary DNS, SMTP for me; backup http in case both linode and Panix go down. None of that is really needed; my friend can get his own linode for $10/month, I can migrate tinho DNS to the linode and I don't need tertiary servers!

And it's also my off-site backup. Currently that's around 400Gb of data for 2 weeks.

Now 'Amazon Drive' has an "unlimited everything" plan for $60/year; that's $5/month. And it doesn't seem to have any retrieval fees or bandwidth fees that I can see.

A friend uses Glacier; that's a lot cheaper... but he recently had to restore his Mac and he says the resulting charges were greater than $60.

Is Amazon Drive the cheapest way of doing off-site backups? Are there any "gotchas" I need to be aware of?
