No, it was written post-Trump ... but you'll notice that it is set in an alternate version of 2015.

Maybe it's because I read it on election day that it felt too heavy handed to be ironic, so I'd discarded that idea!

I've now lived in America for 17 years, and the partisanship is getting worse and worse. Ugh.
