Disk failure

So on Monday I got an email from mdadm telling me that a disk had died in my Raid 10. Joy. But then that disk was 5.5yrs old... Replaced it, RAID array rebuilt cleanly. Good!

I was bored so I took the disk apart (I also like the very powerful magnets that are in them). Huh, every single platter has visible damage on both sides!



I've pulled apart a number of disks now, but this is the only one where the platters are less than shiny.
