Damn, I'm good
Sep. 27th, 2002 02:54 pmWarning... trumpet blowing ahead!
Work's main mail server was suffering sendmail overload; too many connections too much memory too much everything. The CIO of the Financial Services Group ended up talking to me asking for help and I joined the conference call. On this call were sendmail Inc (or whatever the commercial arm is called), Nortel (for the firewalls), upper manglement and a lot of techies...
All of them scratching their heads and breaking things while testing alternatives.
NONE of them had considered tuning the sendmail Timeout parameters. I suggested this and work processing went through an order of magnitude greater than before.
Damn, I'm good :-)
