So I watched this movie yesterday with Steve (who had rented it from the video store) and Julie and found it a wonderfully good funny horror movie.

I mean, you've got to love a movie with scenes like this:
Sergeant has just had his guts ripped open by a werewolf; a private is trying to stuff the spilled intestines back in...
Sgt: My guts are out Coop!
Cooper: We'll just put 'em back in then!
Sgt: They're not gonna fucking fit!
Cooper: Of course they'll fit, man!
or this:
A soldier called 'Spoon' has just been ripped to shreds. The Sergeant looks at the mess, fishes inside and retrieves the watch he had given Spoon earlier.
Cooper: Where's Spoon?
Sgt: There is no Spoon.
(cut to avoid spoilers). Who would have expected a Matrix reference in a horror movie?

Despite the poor cinematography (it looks like it was shot with a digital camera, so fast scene transitions - eg a 360 degree pan - turn out mostly blurred) it's definitely a film I enjoyed immensely and I may buy it. A lot of blood and gore, but they aren't really core to the plot, unlike some horror movies.

We also watched Donnie Darko (Saturday night) which was pretty well made, but the conclusion to the plot was a little weak and I don't think the director actually got the core concepts across. A fun watch, but not something I'd buy.
